Peter Pismenny
St. Francis of Assisi
Cast and carved concrete, painted dark brown.
ca. 1963

Peter Pismenny donated this sculpture to the Faculty of architecture in the memory of Maurice Halter, 1873-1962.  Pismenny was a student of internationally renown Winnipeg artist Eva Stubbs at St. John’s technical school. She remembers that he exhibited this sculpture at “Parent’s Day” and that he was the best sculptor student. (Interview with Stubbs, Jan.14, 2014).

By 1968 Pismenny moved to Holland, where he continued to produce sculpture.  I have found one example, Mother with two children, 1972, Amsterdam.
