128989869110013[1]“It is with sadness that the School of Art notifies you of the passing of one of its esteemed professors, Don Reichert, on Saturday, September 7, 2013.  Reichert was primarily a painter.  Like other artists, his creative interests extended not just to painting but also included digital media, printmaking and photography.  As a pilot he was renowned for his aerial images that inspired his other creative work.  Reichert was born in Libau, Manitoba in 1932 to parents who had emigrated from Austria.  He studied art in Canada, Mexico, and England. His work is in the collections of many personal, corporate and public collections including the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Montreal Museum of Fine Art, and the Canada Council Art Bank.  Reichert was an inspirational role model to many who were either his students or his admirers.  He will be greatly missed.” (Mary Ann Steggles, Acting Director of the School of Art, Sept. 8, 2013).
